For who?

Performance Day Jong Gelre is for every young musician from 12 to 19 years old, both for those who are already studying at a conservatory or are perhaps considering doing so, or who know they will never do so, but who can make very beautiful music.

They present themselves as a duo, trio or any other ensemble of any size, but always without a conductor. To be clear, the soloist is excluded. The repertoire is classical music, from ancient to contemporary.

Choose what you want: playing alone in front of an audience, quite exciting. Or play for an audience and receive feedback from well-known musicians. Or play as a participant in the competition and win prizes, master classes from great musicians. Whatever choice you make: can we welcome your ensemble to the Performance Day Jong Gelre?

About us

Kamermuziek Concours Gelre is a national competition based in Nijmegen. Its partner is Concertgebouw De Vereeniging in Nijmegen. It has close ties with the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam. New in 2023 is the launch of Jong Gelre for young people aged 12 to 19.

Participation

A professional jury selects 6 ensembles from the video registrations. They will play for the public on the Performance Day in the Auditorium of Akoesticum in Ede. The ensembles that would also like feedback will receive it from experienced musicians from the chamber music world. The ensembles that want to participate in the competition receive feedback from the jury and award prizes, including master classes. Would you like to participate in the Jong Gelre, but could you still use some help? Then take a look at our Jong Gelre Academy!
