Alena Walentin

Alena Walentin is an Altus Artist and Artistic Director of the Møn Sommerkoncert festival in Denmark.

Alena has built a reputation as one of the most versatile young flutists, with an international career as a soloist, chamber musician and guest principal flutist with leading orchestras. She is also very active as a workshop leader, adjudicator, chamber music teacher and flute tutor, and teaches at several leading institutions, including the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

She regularly gives master classes at various institutes and summer programmes and has given master classes notably at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, Ponte Cultura music course in France, ESMAE and Academia de Música de Vilar do Paraíso in Portugal, Singapore Flute Festival and Dartington Summer School & Festival in the UK.

Alena has received many prizes and awards, including first prize at the International Flute Competition “Friedrich Kuhlau” in Germany, British Flute Society competitions and awards from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, the Hattori Foundation and the Wolfson Foundation.

Alena is a member of the Atéa Quintet and guest flutist with several ensembles including Ensemble Cymru, Ensemble 360, London Mozart Players and Alban Berg Ensemble Wien.
